We went to the National Mall for the 4th of July on Sunday. We were really worried about Dresden not being able to sit for so long in the heat since it was suppose to get up to 98 degrees. We packed our stroller with every possible thing that we could think of needing. It ended up being super heavy and Josh was just getting a workout pushing it around. The security guy at the entrance was even shocked how much stuff we had managed to fit on this thing when he was inspecting all of our bags. When we finally got a spot and sat underneath the Washington Monument, it was about 6:00 and the fireworks started at about 9:10. You wouldn't have even realized Dresden was bothered by the heat the way he was acting. He played and giggled all day long. The funniest thing was that one of Josh's co-workers had a bunch of girls from BYU meet us there. They immediately began swarming over Dresden and took random pictures of him all day. I think it is crazy how people I do not know, or will never see again in my life, are interested in having pictures of Dresden. He is a local celebrity!
By the time the fireworks started, Dresden was immediately enthralled, even though we were so close to the "BOOM" of them. They last about 15 minutes. By about 8 minutes into the fireworks, he was out like a light. Nothing would wake this kid up. I guess the busy day finally had caught up with him!
