Gettysburg National Military Park

Sunday we trekked over to Gettysburg and visited some of the park.  There was WAY too much to see on foot and it was super humid.  The only things we got to see were the Pennsylvania Memorial and the National Cemetery where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address.  I found it interesting that the Gettysburg Address was not written on the back of an envelope or on the train ride to Gettysburg.  Lincoln had spent a great deal of time preparing his speech.  Had he not had the foresight to do this, his inspiring address probably would not exist or be celebrated to such a degree.  Just another example of how sincerity and preparation can be integral in the ways we conduct our own lives, even if our contribution is small in comparison to others.

Side Note...Dresden, as always, was happy and loved to go out.  He loves the attention he gets from the people in our group (especially the girls).  It is crazy how social he is.

National Harbor/Old Town Alexandria

On Friday, Josh and I went to the National Harbor to eat dinner.  We went to this place called Ketchup, an were sorely disappointed.  To make up for it, we took a water taxi to Alexandria and strolled up King Street.  We love old buildings and cute shops, but it really wasn't stroller friendly.

Dresden's 6 Month Appointment

Today Dresden had his 6 month appointment.  He is still growing (that is a good sign I think) and will soon need a new car seat (his only goes up to 22 lbs).  He is healthy, happy and doing really well with baby food.  I just need to get him to start using a sippy cup.  Anywhoo... here were his measurements:

Height:  27.5" - 85%
Weight:  19lbs 8oz - 85%
Head:  18" - 90%

I guess this pediatric office doesn't get many big kids.  As the nurse was taking each measurement she kept asking "Is it normal for him to be this big?" and "Are you sure?"
Can't wait to see his next measurements!

This has to be the most hilarious commercial I have ever watched.  I had to share.

Dresden's New Vocal Tricks

The past few days Dresden has gone from babbling to full on screeching all day long.  Now that he has discovered this new-found higher octave ability, he isn't letting go of it anytime soon.  As I type he is squealing at me in his jumper.
This was from earlier today:

Here are some pictures of Dresden from the past week.  He is growing up so fast!!!

Memorial Day at Arlington

Josh and I visited Arlington Cemetery on Memorial Day Weekend.  Both of us feel that on these holidays, we need to focus and do more to recognize what they represent.  We are so grateful to be here and to see the things we get to see.  It certainly gives us a unique perspective.
